The Owl

I have been walking at nights in the park in front of my house for a few weeks now. A mandatory post dinner walks to clear my head and get my blood circulation running.  Every now and then I come across this small brownish own either sitting on a lamp or trying to catch bugs in the grass.

From what I could make out by its size and shape it seems to be a spotted owlet or maybe a little owl. Around 5 years back when I used to go for morning runs in an adjacent park there used to be a couple residing in a tree. They used to be seen frolicking in the lawns, looking for insects before the sun came up. In Indian/hindu folklore spotting an owl is considered to be good fortune, the proverbial vehicle of Goddess Lakshmi. And an owl spotted near the festival of Deepawali is supposed to be all the more auspicious.

So here is to good beginnings!
