Foggy Days

23rd is my flight from Del to B'lore and the fog is on the rise!
In all my wisdom I got the booking done for the 9am flight but looking at the conditions I feel even that to will be a bit too early. It's 12:30pm and the fog is still very much there over here in Lucknow.
I guess, I should be mentally prepared for a long haul at the airport.
And with two kids in tow, that should be fun!

Monday morning 4:42 a.m. Is it normal to get up so early to finish a book you have been reading? Was in the midst of Haruki Murakami's "Sputnik Sweetheart" when I slept, rather early, at 11 last night. Woke up all of a sudden at dawn, or was it pre -dawn?, and straight away took the book from my bedside and was engrossed in the mystic world of words within minutes. Finished it finally at around 7am, just before leaving for the gym. The book was spellbinding needless to say. Short, sweet and a standard Murakami . Later on it made me think. Is there anything else in this whole wide world that would make me get up so early and eagerly? No, I guess not. I couldn't think of anything. Isn't this weird? But then being normal was my forte.

TTEs on a Train (to be sung like Riders On The Storm)

What do TTEs talk about when they gang up on a train? I had a whole gang of 8 with me alongwith their chief. They talk about trains and train crossing and train timing. That's but so obvious.  Then to add some excitement to the dead conversation there was a chain pulling in S2 on this Kathgar bridge on Ramganga. The beauty of all this is no one can get off here and neither can it be fixed. So they called up the commercial control to rectify it.  And then like most desis they talk about cells, apps and Whatsapp! Whatsapp seems to be the national pass time now days.  They do talk elections but with the highly charged up political atmosphere they pussy foot around it. Then there is the unifying factor: a hated senior or a bully colleague, we had a bully colleague in this scenario, who as luck would have it got the chain pulling episode rectified and afterward came charging in blaming everyone for not assisting him. What are the odds?.............(iii)

Yesterday evening I was on my way to Delhi from Jaipur by Shatabdi Express, it was 7pm or around about that time. My neighbouring seat was empty so I had plenty of space to spread my self and my luggage. I was practically sprawled across the two seats. Was deep into a book, A Wild Sheep Chase when I came across the following lines........ "Having read that far, I shut the book, opened another beer, and pulled a box lunch of salmon roe out of my pack. She sat across from me with folded arms, fast asleep. The autumn morning sun, slanting in through the train window, spread a thin blanket of light over her lap. A tiny moth blew in from somewhere and fluttered about like a scrap of paper. The moth ended up on her breast and stayed there before flying off again.
